Vintage Basketball Memorabilia and Why I Love to Collect It

Basketball MemorabiliaDo you love basketball? Even more so, do you love basking in the legacies that made the game great? If yes, then you might have, in one way or another, thought along these lines: why it would be cool to set up a vintage basketball memorabilia and why I love to collect it. Maybe you have watched in amazement as Larry Bird’s Celtics battled Magic’s Showtime Lakers for basketball supremacy in the 80′s. Or you might have idolized the great Michael Jordan and followed his career as he broke records and won his 6 NBA rings with the Chicago Bulls. One thing’s for certain, whichever team you’re rooting for, you can put up a killer vintage basketball memorabilia if you have the passion for it.

There’s something about collecting vintage basketball memorabilia that excites hardcore basketball fanatics. Maybe part of it is nostalgia, and fans in general appreciate a physical representation of a historic event in the game. It’s like owning a piece of the game’s history. What MJ fans would give to get that Dream Team jersey that Michael Jordan wore in 1992! NBA cards would be a great addition as well. If you’re lucky, you can score the signed Michael Jordan rookie card, which should probably cost several thousand dollars. Remember that it’s folly to forget vintage NBA jerseys!

There are many types of vintage basketball memorabilia items to purchase. If you’re just starting out, it’s always best to do a lot of research. And never miss the chance to widen your horizons. It’s not just about the NBA, it’s about the game itself. The item could represent different basketball leagues around the world. If you’re into vintage art, there is basketball-related artwork that adds an aesthetic element to your collection. You can even have a shelf full of books about the game. Do all of these and you would soon join me in loving to collect vintage basketball memorabilia. It’s just plain fun and fulfilling!

Signed display photos of NBA legends also look impressive behind a glass display case.. For example, the Wilt Chamberlain autographed display photo imposes such a striking figure. It only makes sense, since Wilt the Stilt is the only player who was able to score a whopping 100 points in a single game.

Another good reason for collecting vintage basketball memorabilia is that it can be a good investment for the future. Not that selling your collection should be at the forefront of your plans. Itís not all about the money, but in case unforeseen circumstances land you into a dire situation, thereís your collection to help you get over your financial woes. Thereís also the possibility of having your son (if he happens to share your love for basketball) inherit your vintage basketball memorabilia.

Once youíve gotten the hang of it, you would soon think along these lines, ìthis is why I love my vintage basketball memorabilia and why I love to collect it.”
